Doctor John's

This post is to help people get informed of what is moving into our neighborhood. According to the city there is nothing they can do about preventing this store from opening, even though the owner of this store has violated the provisions of their business license in other cities in our state and Nebraska multiple times. Please take a moment to get familiar with this owner and his business practices in an effort to "know your enemy". I do not wish to cause support for this business in any way. I do wish for the people of Spanish Fork to be aware of what is going on and hope a thorough knowledge of the subject matter will inspire us to take action and not be the silent unheard majority.

This is the building where Doctor John's is to be located in our city. The address is: 942 East 800 North

This is the owner of Doctor John's. His name is John Haltom, I suggest you search his name on the internet and form your own opinion of him and his business practices.

Here are a few links you can read to get started:

Links related to his dealings in Utah:

Links related to his business and dealings generally:

Link to a little background on his business associates:

My overall hope here is to raise awareness and ultimately stand up as a community and put into action laws and ordinances that promote Spanish Fork as a family friendly environment.

  3. Hey nice. I was wondering what was going to be in that building. Thanks for the heads up. Great to see the city growing.

Oh, and there is nothing wrong with this business. You've given links that show a few legal missteps as well an unflattering jail picture. That is hardly enough to condemn a person. Accept the fact he is selling a product for someone else and coexist with them.

    1. There is plenty wrong with his business and business practices to think otherwise given the data available is ignorant. coexistence is an option not a requirement.

  5. I'd rather see the city grow with family friendly businesses. We used to have a roller-skating rink and a bowling alley. I'm all for growth and helping businesses, but not if it diminishes the quality of our community.

  6. Ha! Funny you need an "SOB" license to distribute porn... do you think they used that acronym on purpose, because it kinda seems to fit?

  7. So what? If you have a problem with it don't shop there and dont let your children... accept the fact that he is selling these products for other people and get over it. You have given links that show a few legal missteps as well an unflattering jail picture. I do not think that is enough to condemn a person. You may as well face it that change is coming and if its not Doctor Johns it will be another store.

    1. So what? How about the silent majority speaks up and rally's to keep something out of their neighborhood which they and their children would be exposed to by its very presence. To accept the "change is happening accept it" attitude is reckless and detrimental to the moral strength of our society.

  8. Um... How is this store any worse than Joes? Just because you may not like the idea of this store, it doesn't mean others won't enjoy it, and it definitely doesn't mean you should bring a mans past to light and judge him for it.

    1. It is different from Joe's in the fact that Joe's adheres to the rules of the City. John Haltom applies for a general license then openly breaks the confinements of it, allowing him to establish business in the first place which he would otherwise need an S.O.B license. He pushes the envelope everywhere he has been allowed to establish a business. I do not want the envelope being pushed if there is anything I can possibly do to prevent it.

  9. It's too bad that this store is going to be built here. I wonder how many boys and men will walk in and look around out of curiosity and 13 seconds later will become LIFE TIME addicts! Super sad! They will have to fight there addiction for they rest of their life. It might destroy future or present marriages and hurt families! I wish there wouldn't be any support and it would go out of buisness, but unfortunately it probably won't, because there are already SO many men that already are addicted and will continue to support it. :(

  10. I wonder what the response was when "Dirty Joe Punsters" came to town? Has the community accepted that business? I'm not advocating either business at all. I do feel that the adult industry cheapens the sacred nature of sex and thus degrades the community and the family. I'm rather shocked that Dr. John's feels that there is enough business here to support two similar stores.
